Our Impact on Grieving Pet Parents

The Pet Loss Support Group has provided a compassionate and safe space for bereaved pet parents since November 2023.

Our group supports:

  • People experiencing pet loss, particularly those without an emotional support system of friends or family

  • Bereaved pet parents who don’t have access to or can’t afford therapy or counselling

According to the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, joining a support group or seeking therapy has been shown to help reduce the effects of pet loss grief.

With over 80% of pet owners in the UK seeing their pets as family members (Source: University of Edinburgh), this really highlights the emotional bond and the profound impact of their loss.

Did you know that that pet loss is a disenfranchised grief? This sadly means it isn’t typically acknowledged, validated, or supported by society. That’s why it’s more important than ever for bereaved pet parents to have a community where they can grieve with understanding and without judgement.

We’re grateful and proud to share that all of our participants say that the Pet Loss Support Group has provided a safe space for them to express their grief.

Will You Help Grieving Pet Parents Find Hope and Healing?

The Pet Loss Support Group has been running on love and compassion since it was first created in November 2023, operating without any funding.

Our meetups have always been, and will always remain, free to attend.

The truth is, that maintaining the running and marketing costs of this initiative is challenging, and we need your help to keep it going.

Bereaved pet parents deserve support because losing a beloved pet is one of the hardest experiences a person can ever face.

Your generous donation will enable us to continue offering meetup sessions for grieving pet parents during this painful and often lonely journey.

Every contribution will help us to continue providing a safe space where grieving pet parents can find comfort, understanding, and the strength to heal.

With your support, we can ensure that no one has to face the heartache of losing their beloved pet alone.

Please consider donating today to help us continue this important work.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! Your kindness really will make a BIG difference in someone’s life.

This group has been the single most important thing I’ve done that has helped me deal with the loss of Bear. It’s brilliant and has been a lifesaver for me.
