Our Impact on Grieving Pet Parents
The Pet Loss Support Group has provided a compassionate and safe space for bereaved pet parents since 2023.
Our group supports:
People experiencing pet loss, particularly those without an emotional support system of friends or family
Bereaved pet parents who don’t have access to or can’t afford therapy or counselling
According to the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, joining a support group or seeking therapy has been shown to help reduce the effects of pet loss grief.
With over 80% of pet owners in the UK seeing their pets as family members (Source: University of Edinburgh), this really highlights the emotional bond and the profound impact of their loss.
Did you know that pet loss is a disenfranchised grief?
Sadly, this means it isn’t typically acknowledged, validated, or supported by society. That’s why it’s more important than ever for bereaved pet parents to have a community where they can grieve in a safe space with compassion and understanding from those who ‘get it’.
We’re grateful and proud to share that all of our participants say that the Pet Loss Support Group has provided a safe space for them to express their grief.
OUR SPONSOR
We’re so grateful for the incredible support of our sponsor. Their generosity makes it possible for the Pet Loss Support Group to continue growing and providing grieving pet parents with the safe space they need to heal.
Founded and led by Ben and his wonderful team, Final Rest offers compassionate home euthanasia services and a trusted pet crematorium.
Ben was the caring veterinarian who came to our home to help me say goodbye to Tilly. It was the hardest day of my life, but made easier with Ben’s kindness, patience, and compassion. I’ll forever be grateful that Tilly received the peaceful, loving, and dignified farewell she deserved.
Sadly, not every pet parent is as fortunate, which is why we’re here to provide that same vital care and support for others during their pet loss journey.
