For many, the hardest part begins after the practical arrangements are complete, when the reality of loss fully settles in and support can feel limited or unavailable.
The Pet Loss Support Group exists to provide gentle, non-clinical emotional support without placing additional responsibility on your team.
Who we are
The Pet Loss Support Group (PLSG) is a UK-based Community Interest Company (CIC) providing structured, non-clinical emotional support to people owners after pet loss.
Founded in 2023 following the loss of my own beloved dog, Tilly, the PLSG has grown into an established nationwide service supporting bereaved pet owners beyond the point of loss.
We work alongside veterinary practices and aftercare providers to ensure families are supported emotionally, while allowing professionals to maintain clear, healthy boundaries.
Today, we provide:
- Weekly facilitated online support sessions
- Monthly in-person meet-ups
- A private, moderated WhatsApp support community
- Curated resources and signposting to appropriate external support where required
All services are delivered within clear boundaries, with safeguarding, confidentiality, and ethical responsibility at their core.

How this support is different
Some aftercare providers offer written resources or signpost to helplines. The Pet Loss Support Group complements this by providing structured, facilitated online group sessions and an ongoing peer support community.
This gives bereaved pet owners a regular, safe space to talk openly about their grief with others who understand, both during and between sessions. Over time, this helps reduce isolation, normalise grief, and support emotional adjustment following loss.
Sessions are intentionally kept small to ensure emotional safety and meaningful peer support.
Our impact so far
70+ bereaved pet owners supported through facilitated sessions and peer connection.
Over 60% return for additional support when needed, reflecting appropriate use of support at difficult moments.
How it works in practice
1. At an appropriate point, you offer families our support card or direct them to our website.
2. Pet owners self-refer and access support in their own time. We manage all ongoing support with care and professionalism.
There’s no admin burden, no ongoing obligation for your team, and no risk to your service. All support is delivered within clear boundaries and with active moderation to ensure a safe environment for participants.

To help pet owners find support when they’re ready, many partner services choose to include a link to the Pet Loss Support Group on their website or aftercare information. This ensures emotional support remains accessible beyond your service, without adding responsibility to your team.

Partnership Contribution
We offer one simple partnership option of £299 per year for pet crematoria and aftercare providers.
This annual contribution is reviewed each year, and carries no long-term obligation.

Safeguarding, moderation, and clear professional boundaries
Free, accessible support for those who need it
Referral materials your practice can share with clients
In return, your practice receives:
Support cards and referral materials for pet owners

For most services, this represents a modest annual contribution while ensuring families have access to ongoing emotional support after loss.
